In light of the upcoming IMO 2020, the Greek Energy Forum (GEF) organised a discussion on the transition that will be required from the shipping industry, as well as the long-term CO2 targets of IMO 2030 and 2050. The event, hosted by Cass Business School, took place on 4th June 2019.
Looking beyond the options of a shorter-term horizon, the panel of the distinguished guests - which included Jean-Christian Heintz, Head of LNG Broking at SCB Group; George Plevrakis, Global Business Development Manager, ABS; Tristan Smith, Reader in Energy & Shipping, UCL; Antonis Trakakis, Chief Technology Officer, Forward Ships/Arista Shipping - discussed the alternative solutions that will propel the shipping industry to its future, through the adoption of new technologies, operational efficiencies and a more environmentally friendly fuel mix.
A copy of the speakers’ presentations is available to the GEF members on their Membership Dashboard.
